Today, I want to talk a little bit about how to simplify mergers and acquisitions without tons of headaches.
When one company takes on the IT assets and the infrastructure of another company, it can be fraught with problems frankly, the discovery of what workloads are running in that environment. Are they databases? Are they desktops? Are they file servers? Are they SharePoint, or Exchange, or Oracle? What are they?
Are they read-heavy? Are they write-heavy? What's the block size? Who do they sit with? Who are their neighbors? What has functioned well together previously?
All these questions come up when it comes to just figuring out what it is that you're inheriting from an IT standpoint. Because Tintri is adaptive to all those aspects of every single VM, and frankly, every vDisk underneath a virtualized infrastructure, the only number we really care about is the capacity. How much space is that footprint taking up? Deploy that much Tintri into the new environment, and then move the workloads over. The Tintri OS will take care of adaptively taking care of each one of those workloads as it comes in.
We learn about them. Our algorithms will take care of isolating them, and driving the response time, the latency down as much as we possibly can for every single VM. We shoot for that low latency experience no matter what that mix of VMs is, so it just means that you don't have to waste so much time on the provisioning, the discovery, and the planning, and you can get on with the rest of the business of the acquisition.
