I'm here to tell you a quick story today about the shared responsibility model and why your organization or company needs to adopt it. A couple of years ago, there were a few firms that had migrated their information and infrastructure to the cloud, AWS and Azure, and within a few weeks there were massive breaches with these firms losing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Well, they filed lawsuits. Again, it's Amazon and Azure and you know what happened? They lost. Amazon and Azure both threw up their hands and said, "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, we're not responsible for this. Have you read the fine print?" The shared responsibility model States that Amazon and Azure or any cloud infrastructure company protect you and your data from North South traffic. What they don't say or what they won't explicitly tell you is that they do not protect your East West traffic with within the infrastructure. It's your responsibility to do that.
